Happy Me

First of all, I love these two people so much. The loves of my life right here.

"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think.  Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.  ~A.A. Milne

I had the best birthday weekend ever. First of all, the weather was perfect. Storybook-type autumn days Friday through Sunday - cool and crisp. Sweater weather and bright sunshine all three days. Mark took Friday afternoon off and the three of us spent it at the park. Playdate/Game night with the neighbors (and good friends) Friday night and the littles played while the parents gabbed. After the littles went nighty-night (and the monitors came out) the grown-ups sipped drinks, ate pizza and got competitive (well some of us. Ah-em, Tarah and Mark.) We stayed up past our bedtimes (midnight if you can believe that) over Taboo and Hearts. I'm talking a ton of laughs and jokes --- and a little bit of playful bickering among friends. My cheeks hurt from laughing so much. Wish I had some pictures --- next time.

The weekend continued with Mimi and Papa's visit on Saturday. They drove down from Keene for a trip to the park and to babysit Anna while Mark and I went out for a date night. Which was fabulous. We left early'ish for shopping at two favorite (and essential) stores: Babies R US and Petsmart. Then off for a delish birthday dinner at Blackinton. Soooo yummy and fun. We chilled, sipped our drinks and ate at our leisure. Pure bliss. We didn't talk about the baby at all. (ha ha ha) The night ended with a candle in creme brulee and a cup of decaf. Truly, the best date night ever. MZ, I love you so much. Not sure how I got so lucky, but man, am I happy I landed you.
